Spot cleaning and vacuuming at home are good for a rug, but a professional clean does wonders for its life and durability. It is the surest way to keep the bright, beautiful colours a handmade rug has to offer.

We repair any damage that may have happened to your rug, in house.

  1. i.Hand sergingRe-wrapping the side edges by hand, so they stop fraying and hold their shape.
  2. ii.SecuringStabilising loose ends, worn areas and weak spots before they become larger damage.
  3. iii.Re-weavingWeaving new pile into areas that are worn or damaged.
  4. iv.New bindingReplacing a worn or broken binding along the ends of the rug.
  5. v.New fringesReplacing fringe that has worn away or been damaged.

Between cleans.

  1. i.

    Vacuum

    Along the direction of the pile, and keep the vacuum off the fringe.

  2. ii.

    Blot

    Lift a spill straight away with a clean white cloth. Rubbing spreads it.

  3. iii.

    Turn

    Every so often, so the rug wears and fades evenly.

  4. iv.

    Pad

    A pad protects the knots on the back and stops the rug shifting.

The right pad makes the biggest difference: see rug padding.

What people ask

We recommend a professional clean every two to three years. It does wonders for the life and durability of a rug and is the surest way to keep its colours bright.

Vacuuming and spot cleaning at home are good for your rug and worth doing regularly. They do not replace a professional clean, which removes the grit that settles deep in the pile.

We repair in house: hand serging of the edges, securing loose or weak areas, re-weaving worn or damaged pile, new binding and new fringes.
