Knot & Co.

01

Hand knotted

Tied knot by knot.

Each knot is tied by hand around the warp threads and cut, building a soft pile. The slowest way to make a rug, and the one that lasts longest underfoot.

02

Flat woven

Woven, no pile.

The weft is passed over and under the warp on the loom, so the rug is thin, light and often reversible. Easy to move, easy to clean, at home in busy rooms.

03

Sumak

A wrapped weave.

A flat weave where the weft wraps around the warp threads, giving a raised, braid-like texture and more weight than a plain flat weave.

04

Braided

Braided and stitched.

Strands of wool or fibre are braided and stitched together into a chunky, nubby rug. Mostly natural, undyed wool.

05

Hand loomed

Made on a hand loom.

Woven on a hand-operated loom, which gives an even, tightly made rug with a crafted feel.
