Bamboo silkrugs.
Bamboo silk gives a rug the lustre of silk at a gentler price. It is not silk from silkworms but a viscose fibre made from bamboo cellulose.
i.What bamboo silk is
Bamboo pulp is dissolved and spun into a smooth, shiny fibre, a kind of viscose (sometimes called rayon). It dyes to rich, clear colours and has a soft sheen very close to silk, which is why it is popular in modern and transitional designs.
ii.How it wears
Bamboo silk is soft and beautiful but weaker than wool or real silk, especially when wet. The pile can flatten in heavy traffic and it marks easily if spills are rubbed. It suits bedrooms, sitting rooms and spaces that see light use.
iii.Looking after it
Keep it dry: blot spills at once with a dry cloth and never soak or scrub it. Vacuum gently without a beater bar, use a pad, and have it cleaned only by specialists who know viscose.

Questions
Bamboo silk, asked
No. Real silk comes from silkworms; bamboo silk is viscose made from bamboo cellulose. It looks similar and costs less, but it is less durable, particularly when wet.
